Deep in the heart of the Eastern Sayan Mountains, far away from crowds and traffic, hidden by passes and impenetrable rocks, nestled on the banks of the gurgling Shumak River – there stands The Valley of a Hundred Healing Springs. For many centuries, people and wild animals have been coming here for treatment, drinking the Healing Mineral Spring Water.
Shumak mineral water is unique.
The mineral water from The Shumak Springs has been tested by scientists who concluded that it conforms to the Special Category of mineral water: Shumak Type, which has some outstanding healing properties.It is effective for treatment of locomotor, cardiovascular, nervous, upper respiratory tract disorders, liver, stomach, endocrine and metabolic ailments, skin, gynecological, urological and infertility conditions. Whilst comparable in quality to the mineral waters of Georgia, Germany, France, Mongolia and South Korea, it is considered by Russian scientists to be unlike any other mineral water on the planet.It runs to the surface from deep underground and is enriched with different mineral compounds which really makes it a remedy given to us by nature.  The Shumak mineral water is considered to be hydrocarbonic -calcium-magnesium water with a high content of silica ranging in temperature from +10 to   +36.5C. The Shumak mineral water is for drinking and bathing.
The Shumak Wilderness Eco Retreatand The Shumak Mineral Springs are accessible only by helicopter
 (all year round) or by 4 days of rigorous hiking ( only in summer time).
The Retreat is located within 10 min walk from the Springs. It has 26 cozy wooden cabins of 3 different standards. All cabins are equipped with a brick fireplace, some have ensuites and TV, others have shared facilities. The retreat boasts its own little restaurant that serves Russian Cuisine and also a Siberian Banya (sauna) with indoor spa filled with mineral water and a large covered area for a bonfire.
The Retreat is the unique tourist facility built without access to roads and other types of infrastructure. All building materials were delivered by helicopter. The Retreat is designed in a most careful way in order to preserve the Unique Nature of The Shumak Valley. It is a fully sustainable facility.

The Shumak is also an Ancient Sacred Place.
It is well worth taking the time to go hiking to really appreciate all of its beauty and significance.We offer several guided hiking tours around the area and you’ll be able to see beautiful waterfalls,  local glaciers, alpine lakes and even visit the most Sacred part of the Valley – The Rock Pillars or The Temple of The Spirit of The Shumak. It is also called by the locals “The Mountain That Gives Children”. People come here to meditate. Women come to ask to conceive.
